We spent a few years learning to say AI. Now a new acronym is arriving: SI — Super Intelligence. In late September the White House wrote it into official terminology, and overnight the market noticed that superintelligence ends exactly like Slovenian domains do: in .si.
The road here was short. First ChatGPT and generative artificial intelligence, then large language models (LLMs), multimodal systems and agents that are very concretely changing how we code, search for information and run companies. Now the terminology is changing too.
Trump’s order: from AI to SI
On 29 September 2026 the US administration signed an executive order with a very direct title: “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence”. Federal agencies are to use Super Intelligence and SI in official communication instead of Artificial Intelligence and AI.
“They increasingly represent not merely artificial intelligence, but a new era of Super Intelligence.”
The key word is increasingly. This is not about a magic moment when a computer becomes smarter than every human — it is about a direction of travel. Today’s models are no longer mere text generators: they understand images, audio and code, use external tools and increasingly carry out whole sequences of tasks on their own. The next step isn’t better chatbots, but intelligent systems that reason, plan and get the work done.
AI isn’t going away. SI is becoming a category.
AI is a globally established label with billions invested in products, brands and domains — that won’t change overnight. But a new semantic space is opening up next to it. The term AI went through three phases: expert term, technology category, commercial label. If superintelligence follows the same path, SI agents, SI search, SI commerce and SI infrastructure are coming soon.
.si: a Slovenian ending with global potential
The internet has a curious habit: the meaning of a domain ending often outgrows the country it was assigned to. .ai is technically the domain of Caribbean Anguilla, yet today it reads as artificial intelligence; .io and .tv tell similar stories. So the question is no longer just whether .si is a good Slovenian domain — it is whether .si can become the global ending for Super Intelligence.
The market answered first: according to the registry, more than 46,000 new .si domains were registered in September, roughly twenty times a normal month — eleven thousand of them on the single day after the order was signed. For a small national ending, that is a tectonic shift.
A good domain is an asset, not a fad
We don’t advocate registering every possible combination just because a technology is hot — most such domains will never be worth anything. Short, clear, semantically strong domains are a different story. A domain is one of the few digital assets a company truly controls: algorithms change, platforms come and go, a good domain stays. If .si starts to read as superintelligence in the language of tech, short .si domains are no longer just Slovenian addresses — they are names for products, platforms and brands.
SEO gets company: GEO
Search is changing as well. For years we optimised websites for Google (SEO); today users increasingly put their questions to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity. That is why GEO — Generative Engine Optimization — is growing alongside classic optimisation: a website has to be legible to search engines and generative models at the same time. Clear entities, structured data, credible references and semantically connected content decide whether AI — or SI — cites you as a source. The system has to understand who you are, what you do and why you are relevant to a topic.
Superintelligence at the end of the address
Will we all be saying SI instead of AI in five years? Maybe. Maybe the two terms will live side by side. But when the world’s largest administration writes superintelligence into official terminology and the registry simultaneously records record growth, Slovenia would be unwise to look away. Sometimes a digital advantage doesn’t come from Silicon Valley — sometimes it has been written at the end of our addresses for three decades: .si
At Spletko we have recently built a small portfolio of .si domains focused on superintelligence, AI and digital products. Some are reserved for our own projects; others are available for purchase or partnership. The current selection is at domene.spletko.si.
